Smart Refrigerator for Healthcare Based on IoT
Abstract
The increasing speed of computing technology, coupled with the Internet's broad availability, are promoting the use of smarter technology in everyday activities. Intelligent devices are prevalent in smart homes, with the kitchen being a key location where such items are commonly used. The Internet of Things (IoT) technology is the foundation of a smart refrigerator, where a network of devices and systems interconnect real-world sensors and actuators to the Internet. This paper describes the development of a smart refrigerator prototype, which is created by utilizing an Arduino and a group of sensors inside it, the sensors monitor the food's freshness, the weight of vegetables, and the availability of eggs. This makes it possible to gather data, which is then uploaded to Firebase and saved in a database server, allowing an Android application to retrieve the data and display it to the user online. In other words, the identified data will be sent to consumers via mobile phone alerts, informing them of the state of various types of food. Modern systems use advanced technology, which increases their complexity. The Smart Refrigerator module we propose is designed to transform any ordinary, non-smart refrigerator into a cost-effective and promising smart refrigerator.
